This book followed the recipe of the others, we are immediately thrown into the middle of a mission at the very beginning, we got back to the FARM to regroup, then continue on with the mission in a different way。In this one, the group is tasked to keep watch over a youth environmental protest in Venice, Italy。 The main speaker, Beatriz is a possible target。 As she is on her way by boat to speak to members of the UN, Rio who has been invited to tag along, spots a bomb and heroically gets everyone off the boat and no one is harmed。 With the plan thwarted, the team thinks the bombers will try again when Beatriz speaks in Washington DC。This one was very exciting。 Parts of the others dragged a little bit, but I felt like this one had more action and plots and excitement。 The team worked so well together despite what seemed like endless snags in their plans and they continued to learn from each other and their surroundings。 Everything that went into this mission was so well thought out and intricate。 There was a lot to it, the parts that went as they were supposed to, and the parts that didn't go the way they had hoped。 The very last paragraph made me so intrigued to read the next book even though this one isn't even out yet!Thank you to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster Children/Aladdin for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! 。。。more

As with each previous Spy kids novel, this one jumps right into the action and keeps you hooked until the end。 I thoroughly enjoyed the environmental aspect of this story as well as the multi-layered family/friends story that the author has continued through each novel。 It's interesting to see each individual character grow a little bit in each book and this one was especially nice to see。 Rio is in the spot light through out this story。 For me, he has blended in to the back ground of the other As with each previous Spy kids novel, this one jumps right into the action and keeps you hooked until the end。 I thoroughly enjoyed the environmental aspect of this story as well as the multi-layered family/friends story that the author has continued through each novel。 It's interesting to see each individual character grow a little bit in each book and this one was especially nice to see。 Rio is in the spot light through out this story。 For me, he has blended in to the back ground of the other books a little and it's nice to see his personality shine through as he faces diverse situations。 It was also great to see that the Kids and Adults in these novels are not perfect and make mistakes just like normal people, even though they are top secrete spy's! City Spies: Mission Manhattan by James Ponti is book 5 in this exciting series。 My son and I have read all of the previous books in this series and could not wait for this latest installment。 While you could read this book as a standalone novel, it is so much better read in sequence。 All of the books in this series are exciting but this book was the best yet。 I’m not sure which of us enjoyed the book more— myself or my son! This series is absolutely captivating with just enough suspense to keep City Spies: Mission Manhattan by James Ponti is book 5 in this exciting series。 My son and I have read all of the previous books in this series and could not wait for this latest installment。 While you could read this book as a standalone novel, it is so much better read in sequence。 All of the books in this series are exciting but this book was the best yet。 I’m not sure which of us enjoyed the book more— myself or my son! This series is absolutely captivating with just enough suspense to keep kids (and parents) hooked。 This book’s ending left us questioning everything yet again。 We cannot wait for book 6! Mission Manhattan was a wonderful addition to the CIty Spies series。 Ponti again crafts an interesting story with Beatriz, who was well written and was an overall interesting addition to the book。 The ending left me on tenterhooks and I cannot wait for the next book in the series。

as per usual, this book is full of clever clever plot and well-written action and character arcs and family。 i like how the kids took charge in this one! like i love that the adults are involved usually, but with both of them temporarily out of commission entirely, the city spies had to create the plan full through and execute it, and they did!!!! these kids are such a good team。 and a family! they keep referring to each other as siblings! (which they are legally and emotionally but it still mak as per usual, this book is full of clever clever plot and well-written action and character arcs and family。 i like how the kids took charge in this one! like i love that the adults are involved usually, but with both of them temporarily out of commission entirely, the city spies had to create the plan full through and execute it, and they did!!!! these kids are such a good team。 and a family! they keep referring to each other as siblings! (which they are legally and emotionally but it still makes me 🥰)i like that the "is robert secretly on clementine's side" question from the last book was resolved, but i am SO frustrated (in a good way, mostly, but i want to knowwww) that we get so little as to what she is up to and whose side she's on!! also curious about how annie's holding up。 she seemed pretty close to cairo and now cairo is not even in communication with her。also i was in dc for a few days this month for work and did a lot of walking downtown and i totally was able to picture where they were which was very fun。 AND i recognized the climate rhetoric used against young people which was, well, less fun bc it's >:( but def felt accurate。 。。。more

This is book five in the series, and when a series gets this far, I'm always afraid the tales will start getting repetitive。 While the best attributes from this series continue in this read, it's as exciting and unpredictable as the first four。The City Spies find themselves on a mission to protect a young and very popular climate activist, who is on her way to speak before the United Nations General Assembly。 But even during a protest appearance before her speech, a deadly threat lurks in the cr This is book five in the series, and when a series gets this far, I'm always afraid the tales will start getting repetitive。 While the best attributes from this series continue in this read, it's as exciting and unpredictable as the first four。The City Spies find themselves on a mission to protect a young and very popular climate activist, who is on her way to speak before the United Nations General Assembly。 But even during a protest appearance before her speech, a deadly threat lurks in the crowd。 Someone is determined to stop her, and the City Spies need to stop them。 Plus, the team has a new member, Rio, which might be a problem or a blessing。 Either way, the team is determined to do their duty no matter how sticky the situations get。There are reads, which flow extremely smoothly, and let the story perform its magic。 This is one of those。 The tale begins with the latest mission。。。and a bit of humor。 The personalities of each character immediately shine as they work seamlessly together in a quickly increasingly difficult mission。 And yet, that doesn't mean that each one doesn't have their own difficulties or flaws。 The author manages to maintain a great balance of action and emotional depth to make the characters interesting, their interactions fun, and the tension high。 It makes for an easy read, which flies by。While this book slides right in with the series, several aspects give it just enough of an original atmosphere to hold its own。 Centering the mission around a international climate activist was a surprising and fun twist。 It did have me thinking of Greta right away, but it took its own interesting turns to keep this only as a quick, first thought。 The security issues the group faces were interesting, as was the dynamic Rio brings as the new member of the group。 It doesn't seem like this will be the last book in the series, and it will be fun to see what this group goes up against next。 。。。more

Mission Manhattan is another fun, action-packed City Spies adventure! This time, the kids are on the hunt for some disruptors at an eco-event where a famous teen climate activist is speaking。 But their chase will eventually lead them to New York City。 Ponti has penned yet another compelling story to add to this fantastic series!I rarely read kidlit, but these books are an exception。 They're fun and crazy, without being TOO ridiculous for the subject matter。 They're one of my frequent recommendat Mission Manhattan is another fun, action-packed City Spies adventure! Another fabulous City Spies adventure! This one starts in Venice and moves to both Washington DC and New York City。 It combines several simultaneous missions and we see each of the City Spies (including Cairo) play to their strengths。 I'm really enjoying watch the Spies mature into a cohesive unit and trust themselves and each other more。 There are some great messages about climate change and the environment here too。 I'm looking forward to the next one! I highly suggest reading the series in or Another fabulous City Spies adventure!
